January Reading Wrap Up

I started the year strong with 8 books, I knew I wanted to read at least one Japanese author for January in Japan, and I opted for a classic The Inugami Curse by Seishi Yokomizo. I also wanted to try some Agatha Christie, for the first time in my thirty-eight years of life, and decided to go for two short stories featuring Hercule Poirot.

Huma Qureshi’s debut collection of short stories was one I was excited about reading. As a Pakistani women of around the same age I was hoping this collection would speak to me in a way that other short stories haven’t. I know it’s an unrealistic and unfair pressure to put on the author, but I was keen to see myself in these stories.
